Chemical Waste Piping Replacement
Apex Construction has been awarded a mechanical piping project at the Russel Research Center (RRC) located in Athens, GA. This a federal project for the USDA which consists of replacing the existing, deteriorated cast iron laboratory chemical waste piping system with a new CPVC chemical waste piping system. The RRC is an eight (8) story building with laboratory areas on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th floors and office areas on the 2nd floor.
The laboratory chemical waste system for each floor is located in the above ceiling area of the floor directly below. The system primarily serves sinks and floor drains, but also has additional connections to equipment requiring drainage, including fume hoods and AHU condensate pans. Piping branches lead to risers and vents located in chases adjacent to the laboratory areas.
This project will address the replacement of the systems being served by the waste and vent risers to a connection point in the basement and up to the underside of the roof deck. We started this job in early November and will be completed by the end of January.
